Influence of Ball Burnishing on Lubricated Fretting of the Titanium Alloy Ti6Al4V

Ball burnishing is a very promising alternative to grinding because of it produces little environmental pollution. It can cause improvement the functional properties machine parts, such as friction and wear. The connection between ball lubricated fretting has not been analysed yet. In this study, was found that discs from titanium alloy Ti6Al4V caused decrease in height roughness up 84% an increase microhardness 26% compared turned surface. Tribological experiments were carried out under conditions. Ceramic balls WC material co-acted with burnished discs. resulted significant tribological behaviour ball-on-disc sliding pair. Due burnishing, coefficient decreased 45% volumetric wear disc 50% disc. smallest achieved for sample pressure 30 MPa; characterised by low great microhardness. corresponded high Wear losses negligible due large difference hardness values
